Product Description

Finca Monteblanco is in the mountains of Vereda La Tocora in the San Adolfo municipality above Pitalito in the Huila region. The wet mill and drying facilities are at the top of the farm with coffee trees planted down the slopes. Rodrigo Sanchez Valencia, his wife Claudia Samboni, farm manager Don Gerardo, and the team that works in the fields are dedicated to creating consistently good coffee using growing and farming techniques that allow for quality crops each year and innovative processing methods to create truly unique beans.

The Purple Caturra variety beans used for this coffee are from trees Rodrigo’s grandfather planted in the 1980s. Purple Caturra is, as the name suggests, a type of Caturra whose cherries ripen to a deep purple color. Once harvested, the beans are processed with a mother fermentation culture derived from the coffee cherries. The beans are then analyzed for sugar content and floated to identify any that should be discarded before the fermentation process continues with the mixture that features coconut and citrus fruits. They are then dried in different levels of sunlight to ensure they dehumidify to the perfect level of moisture.
