    Product Description

Finca Brumas del Zurquí sits just outside of San Jose in Costa Rica’s Heredia canton on a 125 year-old specialty coffee farm. Juan Ramon Alvarado is a 4th generation farmer and the caretaker of Finca Brumas del Zurquí. The farm is a specialty coffee estate focused on regenerative agriculture, where the aim is to reduce the use of water and prevent land degradation and deforestation. Through Alvarado’s exclusive use of eco-friendly “green line” products and his adherence to strict ecological standards, he is able to improve the quality and yield of his specialty coffees while also protecting natural resources and innately benefiting the environment.

The variety of beans used for this coffee are Geisha (also known as Gesha). These beans, a highly prized and globally coveted variety of the Arabica species, derive from the Gesha region of Ethiopia; they became known as Panamanian Geisha or Geisha when brought to Panama in 1953. The Geisha tree is a low-yielding, delicate varietal that also has its own distinct qualities. The resulting coffee, when roasted correctly, doesn’t have the deep, chocolatey flavor profiles of many coffee favorites, but rather humbly boasts delicate floral, teal-like characteristics.
